Poor Rami was found wandering the streets of Georgia all alone. The Pitbull Dachshund crossbreed must have been abandoned by its previous family - no one knew where the dog came from. The people who found Rami brought him to the closest animal shelter, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society. There, they took care of Rami until his condition improved. They shared his whole story on their Facebook account.
After five days, there was still no sign of Rami's owners. No one had called to ask for him.
Nobody expected what would happen next - especially not Rami!
The Humane Society posted a picture of Rami on their Facebook page, hoping that Rami's family would react to it. Even though his family didn't contact the Humane Society, millions of other people on Facebook saw Rami's photograph. His image was shared more than 29,000 times!
Soon, the animal shelter received numerous calls and emails. They all wanted to adopt Rami! However, the Humane Society had different plans for Rami...
Rami is now an ambassador for the animal shelter - and a therapy dog for other homeless dogs! Rami supports the dogs in getting used to the new surroundings, the other dogs and the volunteers at the shelter. He socializes them, plays with them and is probably the best big brother any shelter animal could ask for.
